 |  | Lila Youn brings a background in nonprofit, public, and private sector experiences to her current Management Fellow position in the City of Palo Alto. After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, she participated in the AmeriCorps-sponsored Public Allies program for two years. Her experiences working in the communities of East Palo Alto and San Jose inspired her to pursue a Master’s degree in Urban Planning at the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles. During her time at USC, she had the opportunity to intern for a Los Angeles City Councilmember’s office, a nonprofit affordable housing developer, and a private land use consulting firm. She continued working on land use entitlements with The McCarty Company post graduation, before making her trek back to the Bay Area. |
 |  | Greg Hermann is originally from Glendora, CA, and completed his undergraduate degree at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a minor in Psychology. While there he was a Resident Advisor and later interned in the Office of Residential Life and Education where he created and presented professional development seminars for Resident Advisors. Greg was also active in the University Ambassador program acting as a spokesperson for the University. Currently, Greg is completing his Master’s Degree at the Graduate Center for Public Policy and Administration at California State University Long Beach in Public Administration and is an active member of the Municipal Management Association of Southern California. Greg has worked in Community Services for five years, both at the City of Glendora and City of San Luis Obispo. In San Luis Obispo, he also served on the Police Department Juvenile Diversion Board and was an Employee of the Year for the City in 2004. Greg has spent the last four years working at the Ocean Institute; a southern California educationally based non-profit organization. There he specialized in public sector operations management, strategic planning, project management and budgeting. He also served as the Event Chair for the 2007 Ocean Institute Teacher Gala and sat on the Advisory Board for the Lazy W Ranch Camp. As a Management Fellow, Greg hopes to gain further practical experience into the executive management of a municipality. |
 |  | Sherilyn Tran comes from a background in community organizing and economic development. Originally from Oakland, CA, Sherilyn attended the University of California, Berkeley for her undergraduate degree. After graduation, she worked in a nonprofit organization addressing the social issues that affect urban youth in Richmond, CA, such as, educational and economic disparities, lack of safe public spaces and jobs for youth, as well as the increasing violence and environmental justice issues. Through this experience, Sherilyn realized that she wanted to continue her work serving the community on a more institutional level. Therefore, she went on to pursue her Master of Urban Planning degree at New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service. While attending graduate school, Sherilyn had the opportunity to work with several community economic development agencies in Manhattan and Brooklyn. She enjoys working around the issues of community and neighborhood revitalization through economic development and community empowerment. She believes that it is important for the community and local government to work together to provide a healthy quality of life for all residents of the city. |
