College Terrace Renovation Project

This neighborhood library closed in the summer of 2009 for 12-14 months to complete the extensive renovation project. This project is funded by the City, not by Measure N.

Exterior College Terrace

 The College Terrace Library was built in 1936 and is housed in a building of approximately 4,860 square feet. Designed by local architect, Charles K. Sumner, the building also houses a day care center operated by Palo Alto Community Child Care. In April 2008, the City Council approved reclassification of the building from a Category 4 to a Category 2 structure in the City’s historical building inventory.

Features of the design for the renovation:

* Seismic reinforcement
* Accessibility upgrades
* New electrical and mechanical systems
* Addition of air conditioning
* New roof
* Improved lighting
* New paint and carpet
* Minor changes to the interior layout of the library
