The Street Tree and Median Replacement portion of the San Antonio Road Improvement Project – Phase I has been completed. The initial work included removal of existing street trees and their invasive surface roots; repair and replacement of deteriorating concrete curb and gutter; installation of an irrigation system; and new, more sustainable, street trees and plant material.
The final portion of Phase I of the street maintenance, work is slated to begin on December 7, 2009, and to be completed in January 2010. The boundary of this Phase is along San Antonio Road and its frontage road from Alma Street to Middlefield Road.
This Capital Improvement Project (PE-86070) uses stimulus funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The scope of work includes milling off sections of existing asphalt roadway and repaving the roadway with new asphalt concrete. This work will be followed by the raising of existing manholes and utility valves to the grade of the new road, installing the striping, and upgrading the curb ramps to meet current ADA standards.
In order to minimize traffic impacts, the contractor is required to have at least one lane of traffic remain open at all times and all lane closures are limited to between the hours of 9 a.m., and 4 p.m. Saturday work is not anticipated on this project but is possible. Expect delays when traveling through the work zone on weekdays between project construction hours.
