Please note these changes to the Palo Alto Shuttle Schedule.
The schedules for Palo Alto's two shuttle routes, the Embarcadero Shuttle and the Crosstown Shuttle, will be changing on August 23, 2010, to improve service to Caltrain, local schools and community facilities and reflect changes in the program budget.
The Embarcadero Shuttle schedule has been updated to improve timed connections between the Palo Alto Caltrain station and the Embarcadero/Baylands business area, and better serve the new bell times for Palo Alto High School, as well as Jordan Middle School and Castilleja School, during morning and afternoon commute periods. The noontime service has been discontinued.
The Crosstown Shuttle will run every 60 minutes instead of every 30 minutes, as a result of the reduction in the Palo Alto Shuttle program budget for the 2010/2011 fiscal year. The buses will continue on the current route between Downtown Palo Alto and East Charleston Road. Key activity centers and housing developments served include the Main Library, Avenidas, Lytton Gardens, Channing House, Jordan Middle School, Mitchell Park, JLS Middle School, Stevenson House and Midtown shopping district.
New shuttle schedules are being distributed to schools, community facilities and senior housing facilities during the week of August 16-20. For more information, please contact the Transportation Division at 650-329-2520.
About the Shuttle Service
The City of Palo Alto's Shuttle is free and open to everyone. All shuttles are wheelchair accessible. Bus stops are marked with a "Palo Alto Shuttle" sign, a sticker on a regular VTA bus stop sign, or a “Shuttle” decal on a stop sign pole in residential areas.
Crosstown Shuttle
The Crosstown Shuttle connects the downtown, residential neighborhoods, schools, senior residences, libraries, recreation centers, and commercial districts between the Palo Alto Caltrain station and East Charleston Road.
Embarcadero Shuttle
The Embarcadero Shuttle serves employers in the Embarcadero/Baylands area, residents in the Embarcadero Road corridor and students at Palo Alto High School. One Embarcadero shuttle trip in the morning and afternoon is diverted from the normal route to serve Jordan Middle School.
The Embarcadero Shuttle runs approximately every 15 minutes, Monday through Friday from the Palo Alto Caltrain station to the Embarcadero/Baylands during commute hours and is coordinated with the Caltrain schedule.
